“If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”

The Campaign for Amerca’s Future has an interesting blog entry about the Republican penchant for tax cuts as the solution to every problem. Yeah, yeah, this is one of those progressive (code word for liberal!) sites, trying to solve all the world’s problems. They analyze the current call for cuts and how they would affect the coming/current/past (take your pick depending on whose views you believe) recession. I am no economist even though I took two quarters of it in college, but I believe corporate tax cuts have little to do with helping very much for the majority of the people. Of course these proposed tax cuts will help rich people, and we all know how well “trickle-down” economics works, don’t we? Yes, St. Ronnie proved that one to us once and for all. If we’re going to have a tax cut, let’s put it in the hands of those who need it NOW and will spend it NOW rather than dripping it out so it trickles down slowly. I’m not personally convinced we need one right now, but then, I’m employed and have a non-sub-prime mortgage, so I may not be the best person to offer an opinion on this matter.
